A quick update on the trident maple development project.  We have grown tridents in the field, in root control bags, for 2-3 years.  We then transfer them to Anderson trays to refine and expand the nebari.

Here is a trident just removed from the Anderson tray.  The roots are raked, pruned and washed to get to this next picture.

It's difficult to appreciate in the "looking down" views how much root pruning is done underneath.  Here is the root ball from below.  You can see where large roots were pruned. And, you can begin to realize the potential for fantastic nebari with a few more years of development.

The tree was potted a bit "deep".  This promotes further growth and fusion.
